I have known Serena for many many years. The first time I met her I was shooting Selita Ebanks for Sports Illustrated in the Cayman Islands. Her and Selita were good friends and we drove around the island, went to dinner and hung out for 2-3 days! It was sooo much fun! So gladly, when my agent sent me an e-mail asking if I wanted to do the cover of SELF with Serena I jumped at the opportunity! I flew in the night before on Delta Airlines to Palm Beach and stayed at The Four Seasons. When I got to my hotel room I did some research on what was happening with Serena at the moment and she was getting ready to go to Wimbledon to play in next Grand Slam. Needless to say, she won!!
Now let’s get to her hair, shall we?! I love how Serena changes her look all the time! She is the hardest working athlete I know from 2 day trainings to HSN selling her clothing line and shooting a magazine cover in between. I started off on damp hair using STARRING Supersexy Foaming Mousse from roots to ends. Then, I diffused her hair dry to create beautiful, luscious curls. Anytime I feel like I want curly hair to be more defined, I use an iron on it. So for Serena’s look, I chose to use a very small curling iron to bring out her curls. Then, I used Elnett hairspray to kind of hold everything in place. But what you have to understand is we were shooting outside on a beach so that created havoc for me trying to control her hair!
As you can see, beautiful sexy hair never goes out of style. #STARRINGMyHair
